The Data Center Area Manager will assist in maintaining a high reliability and performance while keeping operating costs in facilities at a minimum. This equipment supports mission-critical servers and must maintain better than 99.999% uptime.

Key job responsibilities
The Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) Area Manager, will be responsible for data center engineering operations within an Amazon Data Center including risk management and mitigation, corrective and preventative maintenance of critical infrastructure, vendor management and metric reporting.
Responsibilities:
· Responsible for the on-site management of shift technicians, senior shift technicians, sub-contractors and vendors, ensuring that all work performed is in accordance with established practices and procedures
· Has primary responsibility for 2-3 Data centers
· Participates in strategic planning projects
· May oversee the build out of Facility-specific infrastructure in existing locations
· Participates in recruiting efforts
· Is active in the training and/or development of others
· Uses business knowledge to set priorities and develop project plans
· Has a deep understanding of best practices in their area of expertise and ensures their application
· Operate and manage both routine and emergency services on a variety of critical systems such as: switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, building monitoring systems, etc.
· May assist in the design and build out of new facilities
· May assist in projects to increase current facility efficiency
· Responsible for asset and inventory management

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- High school or equivalent diploma
- 5+ years of relevant work experience in a data center or other critical environment OR 9+ years of Technical (Military/Trade School) training and/or experience OR 2+ years of Amazon experience
- 6+ years of experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and other basic administrative tools
- 3+ year experience with managing diverse teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 6+ years of experience with advanced understanding of the electrical or mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations such as: feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units. PDU units, pumps, air handling units and CRAC units
- 4+ years of Data Center Engineering Experience
- 4+ years of experience with root cause analysis and troubleshooting/problem solving
- 3+ years of experience reading and understanding schematics and building drawings
- 3+ years of demonstrating the ability to share knowledge and train peers
- Ability to prioritize in a complex, fast-paced environment
