We are seeking a driven, results-oriented Senior Software Development Engineer to join our Shout-Outs team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the team's long-term vision and architecture, shaping product roadmaps, and providing technical leadership to the engineering team as we continue to enhance and expand the Shout-Outs suite of services.

The ideal candidate will have extensive design and architecture experience, knowledge of AWS technologies and services, and a proven track record of building mission critical, highly scalable full-stack systems.


Key job responsibilities
* Lead complex, cross-functional projects that require the coordination of multiple engineers
* Own the team's system architecture, providing a holistic view and design guidance
* Be a key influencer in the team's strategic direction and technology choices
* Facilitate consensus-building when confronted with differing technical viewpoints
* Mentor and coach other engineers, both on the Shout-Outs team and across the organization
* Drive the adoption of engineering best practices within the team
* Work on ambiguous, customer-defined problems, developing the right technical strategy
* Understand the business impact of your work and make thoughtful technical trade-offs
* Tackle complex problems with simple, robust solutions, both directly and through your team
* Effectively communicate technical designs and decisions, tailoring your approach for technical and non-technical audiences
* Set a culture of high-quality, maintainable code and continuous delivery
* Identify and resolve root causes of systemic issues, including in related teams' systems

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
- 8+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 8+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 10+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Master's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
