Key job responsibilities
We are looking for a 3D Systems Technologist who also has experience in AWS systems who can deliver pragmatic solutions to the technical problems related to Amazon visual experiences (AR, video, interactive & still imagery). The right person will bring an implicit understanding of the balance needed between artistry, communication, and partnership—help scale 3D content creation within Amazon by enabling our customers with -- to work smarter, not harder.
In this role, you willl:

- Act as a bridge between art and engineering disciplines to solve multi-disciplinary problems
- AWS work with EC2 (including security groups & AMIs), AWS Systems Manager, VPC, FSx, Manage Active Directory.
- Collaborate with other tech artists and engineers to build and maintain a centralized suite of artist tools
- Work with art leadership to research and implement the latest industry trends that expand our production capabilities.
- Hardware and software procurement for artist and design technologist desktops
- License server administration

A day in the life
As a 3D Systems Technologist will include but is not limited to AWS related tasks, and hardware & software license procurement, coding and development of tools, workflows, and automation to improve the artist's experience and increase productivity. A day could look like spinning up new EC2s and developing tools for Maya/Substance to creating an automation workflow that advances the fidelity of 3D/CGI experiences. An ideal candidate is observant, creative, curious, and empathetic. They believe that there is never just one approach to solve a given problem.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years working in Systems computer-graphics related field (VFX, Games, Film, Motion Graphics) in a similar role (Systems Admin, Tech Artist, Pipeline TD, Pipeline Engineer, Art Tools Engineer)
- TypeScript
- AWS experience
- Deep understanding of content creation and delivery process
- Proficiency in a modern programming language
- Experience building and maintaining internal pipelines and toolsets, including user documentation and education
- Understanding of current generation of real-time and offline rendering and shader techniques

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience with Perforce
- Experience with AWS (EC2, AWS Systems Manager, VPC networking, FSx, Managed Active Directory, Thinkbox Deadline, Appstream, Cloud Development KIt.
- Broad knowledge of Maya, Unreal, Blender, Houdini, and Adobe Substance Suite
- Experience with VRay, Unreal, Unity, or equivalent renderers
- Interest or experience with e-commerce rendering trends (WebGL, glTF)
- Experience with Python/C++/C#/Java
- Experience designing and building artist tools that extend DCC (Digital Content Creation) software packages
- Experience extending creative project management tools (Jira, Shotgun, ftrack)
- Experience working with global outsourcing and contract-based content creation teams
- Ability to analyze and optimize assets for real-time rendering

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $205,000/year in our highest geographic market.
