The PubTech (Publisher Technologies) team builds and operates extensible services that empower publishers (1P and 3P) to improve the monetization of their customer experiences, along with the experiences themselves. We bias toward standards-based and flexible designs that allow publishers the ability to invent on top of our solutions and to interoperate well with other advertising technology providers; both internal and external.
Amazon’s PubTech team is looking for an skilled and experienced taxonomist who will be responsible for driving the construction, adoption, and governance of taxonomies that support our ads data activation strategy, and optimize user ads experience. You have a deep understanding of classification principles and have a strong background in managing complex data structures. This role is critical to ensuring our unique datasets are accurately categorized, easily searchable, effectively utilized across various publishers and use cases.


Key job responsibilities
- Define and develop a comprehensive taxonomy strategy that aligns with our data activation strategy.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices to continually refine and improve taxonomy strategies.
- Work closely with business partners to ensure taxonomies meet their needs.
- Design and build scalable and flexible taxonomies that accommodate diverse data activation use cases.
- Create detailed documentation of taxonomy structures, including definitions, rules, and guidelines.
- Lead the implementation of taxonomies across various teams and solutions, ensuring seamless integration.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate on the importance and usage of taxonomies, and drive adoption.
- Develop and distribute guidelines and best practices for taxonomy adoption.
- Regularly review and update taxonomies to reflect changes in the market, technology, and business requirements.
- Monitor the effectiveness of taxonomies and make adjustments as needed to optimize performance.
- Establish and oversee governance processes to ensure consistent application and compliance with taxonomy standards.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s degree in Information Science, Library Science, Data Management, or a related field.
- + 5 years of proven experience as a Taxonomist or in a similar role.
- Experience creating and communicating technical requirements to engineering team.
-Experience collaborating with a variety of stakeholders.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Master’s degree in Information Science, Library Science, Data Management, or a related field.
- Experience building taxonomies in the advertising industry.
- Familiarity with ads industry taxonomies standards.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $122,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $272,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
