We're seeking an exceptional technical leader to drive the evolution of AWS's threat response capabilities through the application of machine learning, large reasoning models, large-scale data analytics, and security engineering. In this role, you'll deliver advancements that protect AWS infrastructure and our customers at global scale.
Key job responsibilities
Design and operationalize next-generation threat detection systems that process peta-scale security datasets while maintaining high precision/recall
- Lead automated threat hunting and detection engineering initiatives
- Transform threat intelligence into actionable detection logic and machine learning models
- Drive innovation in security data science, developing novel approaches to identify sophisticated threats
- Mentor and provide technical leadership, scaling your impact through other engineers and scientists
- Partner with AWS service teams to implement detection capabilities across AWS's infrastructure

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Extensive experience in security engineering, data science, or software development
- Proven track record building and operating petabyte-scale distributed systems
- Expertise in multiple programming languages (e.g., Python, Rust, Java)
- Experience applying ML/AI to real-world security problems
- Strong background in threat detection, security response, or threat intelligence
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience developing and improving security-focused ML techniques (anomaly detection, graph analytics, reasoning models)
- Track record of publications or patents in security or machine learning
- Deep knowledge of cloud security and AWS services
- Track record of breaking down complex security challenges into simple, scalable solutions

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $179,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $309,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
