In the first project, the focus might be on *material sourcing and inbound logistics* for a manufacturing plant. The Program Manager would work closely with suppliers to establish just-in-time delivery schedules, reducing lead times and minimizing storage costs. This involves coordinating supplier performance metrics, optimizing transportation routes, and addressing any supply chain disruptions. The role demands meticulous planning and problem-solving to ensure that raw materials arrive in the right quantities, at the right time, and at the lowest cost. For the second project, the Program Manager may oversee *internal material movement and process efficiency* within a production facility. This involves creating a streamlined workflow for material handling, from receiving goods to delivering them to the shop floor. Key activities include designing material handling systems, defining inventory storage strategies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to eliminate bottlenecks. The role also entails implementing a *Plan for Every Part (PFEP)* to document and standardize material requirements, storage locations, and replenishment strategies. By leveraging PFEP, the Program Manager ensures that every part has a defined flow, reducing errors and waste while supporting lean manufacturing principles. In the third project, the focus might shift to *outbound logistics and customer delivery*. Here, the Program Manager aligns production schedules with customer demand to ensure timely order fulfillment. Responsibilities include coordinating with warehouse teams, optimizing packaging processes, and managing shipping carriers to maintain cost efficiency and service reliability. PFEP principles may extend to defining optimal shipment quantities and loading configurations to maximize efficiency. Across all three projects, the Program Manager must balance competing priorities, foster strong communication with stakeholders, and leverage data-driven insights to drive continuous improvement in material process flows.* Manage one large, or multiple smaller projects in a manufacturing environment * Project size and quantity is dependent upon candidate comfort level as well as business project priority at the time of hire* Take on a leadership role for projects that may span various aspects of manufacturing operations* Leverage and develop project management skills including: Development of project schedules using MS Project, or other chart tool of choice and Managing a risk register, including identifying, assessing and mitigating risks * Gather and analyze project data for monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), crafting reports and dashboards, while utilizing insights to shape program priorities* Interface cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams to deliver project requirements * Drive continuous improvement initiatives by planning and implementing lean projects within the company, collaborating with multiple stakeholders in the development and delivery of related content and trainingA day in the lifeIf you are not sure that every qualification on the list above describes you exactly, we'd still love to hear from you!
