The Amazon Robotics UX team drives the user experience for our portfolio of robotics platforms and operations management tools as we strive to create a safer, more productive, and higher performing work environment. The experience design directly impacts front line associates who interact with our robotic and automation systems, operations managers who balance work across these complex facilities, maintenance personnel who keep the robots running, and others.

We’re looking to add a Senior UX Designer to our team. In this role, you will work with internal stakeholders and external partners to design high-quality, scalable designs for the interfaces operations teams use to interact with Amazon Robotics solutions. You will own multiple projects simultaneously, from concept through implementation. You will be a primary point of contact of your projects and directly interface with our robotics hardware, software, product, systems, and engineering teams.


Key job responsibilities
- Utilize human-centric thinking to align with customer needs and preferences and system-level thinking to drive scalable design solutions
- Thrive and be passionate about innovating new-to-the-world products under ambiguity
- Ruthlessly prioritize design recommendations and changes to maximize impact on product performance and business KPIs
- Uphold excellent organization skills and ability to define, track, document, and guide multiple design efforts
- Become a subject matter expert on the intersection of robotics, user experience and logistics
- Implement contracts and mechanisms with external partners to ensure quality and design intent are maintained as we scale with external vendors
- Drive the user experience design of multiple mid-to-large-sized programs through collaboration with technical and contracted partners
- Create and proactively pitch north star UX design visions and influence product strategy, collecting and presenting qualitative and quantitative data to support design recommendations with strong rationale
- Lead brainstorming and design critique sessions that foster big thinking while raising the bar on the design quality
- Champion user-centered design culture and best practices in the design team and for cross-functional teams.
- Own the creation and improvement of design guidelines, systems, mechanisms, and processes, as well as drive their adoption among cross-functional teams.

A day in the life
To achieve our vision, we seek someone to define early concepts, articulate end-to-end experiences, and craft elegant design solutions across a range of personas and platforms at scale while partnering closely with systems architecture, ergonomics, product, and engineering within Amazon Robotics as well as with our operations customers in the field. You will shape long-term design visions for strategic product direction. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 6+ years of design experience
- Have an available online portfolio
- Experience designing and prototyping with tools such as Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, InVision, or similar
- Experience leading small to medium teams as a project or design lead

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience acquiring user data (e.g., conducting usability studies, performing user research) and creating personas and journey maps
- Experience with UX design of complex workflows
- Experience designing for a variety of form factors including: mobile, desktop, and hardware interfaces
- Experience leading UX for collaborative multi-disciplinary projects including hardware engineers, software engineers, systems engineers, research scientists, ergonomics, product managers, program managers
- Experience with human performance measurement or Human-System Engineering
- Experience planning and executing effective customer research, solo, or in partnership with a UX researcher
- Passion and high bar for your and teams’ design quality
- Master’s Degree in Human Factors, Human Centered Design & Engineering (HCDE), Cognitive Psychology, or a related field

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $211,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
