This role is a 6 month co-op to join AR full time (40 hours/week) from January to June 2025. Come join us in North Reading, MA, or in our newly expanded innovation hub in Westborough, MA!

Amazon Robotics Sensor Team is seeking a talented and motivated computer engineering or robotics student to assist with firmware development, testing, and support for manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have had experience with and interest in embedded system design, possess good communication skills, and enjoy problem solving both independently and in team settings. This position reports directly to the Sensor Software Manager.

The Embedded Software Engineering Co-op will be responsible for:
- Assisting an interdisciplinary team of engineers in the execution of product designs from concept to production including design, prototyping, validation, testing, and certification
- Developing embedded software and python scripts for our current and next generation of sensor and robotic systems.
- Having an understanding of and interest in the technical principles, theories, and concepts in embedded firmware development and testing




BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Currently working towards a BS in Computer Engineering, Robotics, or a similar field and must have at least one semester of school left to complete after the end of the co-op
- Must be eligible and available for a full-time (40h / week) role from July to December 2024
- Classroom and project experience in developing embedded systems, firmware, and/or control systems
- Prior internship or co-op experience in a similar field
- Working knowledge and experience programming with C/C++ and Python
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills with a high level of attention to detail.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Prior internship or co-op experience in a similar field
- Experience with sensors, including but not limited to camera, stereo camera, time-of-flight sensor, Radar, and Lidar.
- Experience with sensor data processing and applications, including but not limited to sensor fusion, computer vision.
- Experience in the design and debugging of embedded systems
- Commitment to rigorous testing practices
