Amazon Robotics is building a new foundational system which will transform warehouse robotics. The team is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to help us deliver on this ambitious goal.

In the Robotic Storage Technologies team, we own cloud-based services that automate storage and retrieval of customer goods within Amazon warehouses. Our solutions are powered by hundreds of robots mobile robots working in collaboration to execute a variety of tasks. We leverage the latest and greatest in AI to ensure always optimal allocation and planning. We develop robotic work cells that make working in our warehouses easy, safe, and fun for our associates.

The ideal candidate is passionate about software development and has a track record of leading the design and implementation of new products and features using cloud solutions and robotic systems. They have solved complex problems and seen their solutions deployed at scale in live environments. They are enthusiastic learners who build deep and broad expertise and enjoy leading teams across a variety of projects.

Key job responsibilities
Specific areas of focus may include (but are not limited too):
- Working closely with scientists, software, and hardware engineers to design, develop, deploy, and test workcells and planners that support fulfillment center operations
- Taking ownership of investigating and solving problems for the customer
- Collaborating with senior engineers from partner teams to solve challenging problems
- You communicate effectively two levels up from your manager, with local and remote teams, verbally and in writing.
- Thinking strategically and identifying areas of long-term technical investment spanning a year or more
- Establishing architectural principles, selecting design patterns, and mentoring team members on their appropriate application.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
