We're looking for a proven Sr. Technical Program Manager to join the new Autonomy group within Amazon AGI!

Amazon’s Autonomy group is the world’s largest and best resourced agents R&D effort, and the team is comprised of half machine learning researchers from the Adept partnership and half long-time expert Amazonians. This Principal TPM role spans the entirety of the ~75-person Autonomy organization and will work closely with a TPM specifically supporting our work with Alexa. The role reports directly to David, our VP.

The core of the role is to ensure that every team in our organization is running at max speed and delivering results. This role must influence leaders across organizations on the technical, product/roadmap, and business fronts – i.e., across research, engineering, product, CX, finance – and drive decisions and orchestration across teams to ship. It must often demonstrate strong backbone with opinionated nudges if things appear to be going off-track on any of these dimensions. This role is responsible for our group’s OP1, which involves both internal and partner team coordination. It is also responsible for establishing, operating and evolving Autonomy’s operating cadence. Finally, all special projects relating to Autonomy team’s success fall into the purview of this role. These projects are often ambiguous and time-sensitive in nature, and often tracked at the STeam level, given the space.

Key job responsibilities
What we hope you’ll do:
• You will build and execute roadmaps for programs across Autonomy, much of which has high complexity given their interdependence with partner and customer teams.
• Be the primary point of contact for all stakeholders of programs that you run.
• Be eager to dive deep into technical systems and deeply understand their details—our projects can be quite arcane deep learning bets and we need someone who can get in the weeds.
• Has the emotional fortitude to handle a ton of ambiguity
• Have a fundamental orientation of doing whatever helps the team be most productive
• Works really hard, has high emotional intelligence, and is happy with an in-office culture
• Willing to do whatever it takes for the team to succeed

About the team
The Autonomy group’s mission is to build the world’s smartest AI agents and make them universally accessible, both for consumers through Alexa as well as enterprises through AWS. Agents are large language models that can actually do things in the real or digital world for you: “get me a reservation for 2 on Resy,” or “upload this invoice to QuickBooks and pay it.” We believe that agents are the next big unlock for LLMs to be truly useful, and are on the critical path to general intelligence. Fortunately, Amazon believes this too—our product scope is wide, and the technical depth required to succeed spans giant training infrastructure, foundation modeling, product engineering, and data feedback loops.
