Key job responsibilities
• Create standard processes for vendors and 3rd party assemblers (3PAs), including inline quality control check points to identify defects upstream and avoid additional QC cost downstream
• Employ Lean engineering and industrial engineering principles to prepare and optimize robotics and automation systems for field deployment at a large scale
• Leverage Design for Deployment (DfX) methodologies and Value Stream Mapping techniques for new technology to iterate processes and documentation during beta and early GA deployment stages
• Partner with suppliers and assist in manufacturing tooling and fixturing for both high volume and high complexity scenarios
• Support in-field deployments at various Amazon locations globally to understand on the ground challenges and measure adoption of published standards
• Create troubleshooting and best practices documentation to aid problem solving in the field
• Interpret data sets into information and opportunities for process improvement across deployments
• Structure and develop implementation plan and work with cross functional leaders to pilot and test new solutions and then roll-out across the broader organization
About the team
The RDE NA Process Engineering (PE) team exists to enable deployment execution teams in the implementation of new technology at a large scale and to improve efficiency of deployments of general availability (GA) technologies year-over-year.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (any discipline) or related technical field
• 7+ years of relevant work experience in high technology or a manufacturing environment
• Demonstrated proficiency using operational metrics, industrial process development, Lean and industrial engineering techniques/tools like Kaizen
• Experience with root cause analysis and problem-solving tools (5 Why’s, Fishbone, 8D)
• Ability to travel globally up to 30% per year
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Master’s degree in Engineering or similar discipline
• Experience working with the designs of complex automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and systems including robotics and high-speed manufacturing.
• Familiarity with Value Stream Mapping or Labor Standards Analysis
• Six Sigma Green or Yellow Belt training
