Amazon is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Learning and Development Specialist to join our Launch Operations team. The Launch Operations team is the ‘last mile’ of delivering our satellites to orbit. The team consists of Mission Managers, Payload Processing facilities team, Satellite processing teams, and technical and strategic initiative teams. The team is part of the Production Operations organization which is responsible for overseeing and managing the manufacturing, transportation, and processes of satellites.

In this role, you will be responsible for establishing a Learning and Development program from the ground up. This greenfield opportunity requires an innovative approach to creating, implementing, and managing all aspects of the training and development lifecycle. The ideal candidate has an entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to create learning and development programs for both engineers and technicians. This role requires exceptional written and verbal communication skills, high judgment when clear guidelines may not exist, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. To be successful you need to be highly motivated and detail oriented while showing the highest standards of execution.

Key job responsibilities
- Partner with program managers, subject matter experts (SMEs), and key stakeholders to identify training needs and ensure alignment of training initiatives with business objectives.
- Conduct needs analyses and create detailed storyboards to map out engaging and effective learning experiences.
- Manage multiple curricula development projects simultaneously and maintain the annual training calendar to align with the evolving needs of the Lunch Operations team.
- Own the development and facilitation of a new hire onboarding orientation program that is tailored for engineers and technicians, ensuring a smooth integration into the team.
- Design and deliver engaging, effective training content using various methodologies (e.g., classroom, e-learning, hands-on workshops).
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to identify skill gaps and develop targeted training solutions.
- Solve business problems with focus on understanding root causes and driving forward-looking opportunities.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of learning programs and continuously improve based on feedback and performance metrics.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while adapting to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices in learning and development, particularly in aerospace and technical fields.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of program or project management experience
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
- Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
- 5+ years experience in a Learning and Development role
- NASA Badge: Ability to pass Kennedy Space Center background checks.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 2+ years of driving process improvements experience
- Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field
