As a key member of the Amazon Devices UX & Customer Insights team, you'll spearhead the strategic and tactical design of tools that enable the Devices organization to scale and automate demand planning, promotion services, and forecasting efforts across a wide range of Amazon Devices, including Echo & Alexa devices, Fire TV, Fire Tablets, Kindle E-readers, and Ring and Blink Home Security products.
You will tackle challenging internal tools user problems and work to design best-in-class user experiences (user interface designs, interaction models, prototypes, etc.) in a fast-paced environment. As a UX Designer for Scaling Tools & Software, you will work with Product Managers, Software Engineers, Machine Learning Scientists, Strategic Planners, and User Researchers to help drive innovation for new and optimized prediction, simulation, and personalization services.
Your role will involve creating simple, fluid, and visually appealing experiences that streamline workflows for internal customers. You'll lead the design process to support innovation in machine learning models, science, and technology to automate or augment current workflows. With partnership from key team members, you'll design elegant data visualizations that assist users in making informed business decisions driving billions in revenue annually.
We're looking for someone who is detail-oriented and passionate about user experience. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, startup-like environment and be eager to learn how to translate business needs into user-focused solutions. While your work will primarily focus on desktop experiences, you should be interested in expanding features across multiple devices.
The ideal candidate for this position will be able to visualize experiences both conceptually and in the abstract, translating them into solid design deliverables that meet customer goals and business requirements. You should be responsive, flexible, and able to work collaboratively in an open peer environment. Informed by research and data, you will explore multiple design solutions to given problems or features, communicating these solutions visually through sketches, user flows, wireframes, functional prototypes, and/or high-fidelity designs, as necessary.
Key job responsibilities
* Collaborate and work cross-functionally with design, product, and engineering teams from design concept to design solution, using business requirements, customer research, and iterative feedback to develop scenarios, use cases, and high-level requirements.
* Design conceptual sketches, wireframe information architecture, high-fidelity mockups, and interaction specifications.
* Develop and nurture relationships across teams and disciplines to promote collaboration, efficiency, and adoption of solutions.
* Develop and maintain detailed design patterns that scale for your team and influence other designers.
* Lead brainstorming sessions and give presentations to partners and stakeholders to drive design, demonstrating features and flows.
* Understand and respond to data (metric tests, usability studies, usage data), using that to inform future design decisions.
* Drive measurable improvements in user efficiency and satisfaction for internal tools
* Manage relationships with diverse stakeholders across the organization
About the team
The Amazon Devices UX & Customer Insights Team defines and builds e-commerce shopping platforms and programs globally to support Amazon Device education, sales, and customer engagement, and designs internal software and tools to simplify and automate processes that enable the Devices organization to scale and continue to delight our customers. We are a multi-disciplinary group of UX designers, researchers, and prototypers that envision, create, and execute solutions end to end.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 6+ years of design experience
- Have an available online portfolio
- Experience designing and prototyping with tools such as Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, InVision, or similar
- Knowledge of best practices for information architecture and design
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience applying scrum to visual or UX design processes
- Experience with UX design of complex workflows
- Knowledge of usability principles and techniques

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $211,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
