The ideal candidate should possess a strong program management background, have experience leading large/complex/cross-Org. projects, and have a well-rounded technical background.
As a Sr. Technical Program Manager, your responsibilities will include writing specifications, driving project schedules from design to release, managing the production launch for a product/feature, and using metrics to provide status along the way. You will lead and coordinate design and implementation efforts, coordinating across multiple teams to develop optimal solutions. You will anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make trade-offs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints.
Sr. TPM need to not only excel in operating at a strategic level but also need to understand when to dive deep to keep the project on track. Specifically, Sr. TPM must set the bar on the ability to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines. Along with that, Sr. TPM need to clearly and concisely communicate, both verbally and in writing, with senior management on status, risks and required mitigations to maintain project commitments. Sr. TPM are expected to support the team in making appropriate trade-offs to optimize time-to-market, clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal cross-functional and remote project teams. This role is a good fit for someone creative, who has strong customer focus and product sense, combined with an established track record in consumer technology products, connected devices, and a real passion for TV and mobile video entertainment.
A day in the life
As a Sr. Technical Program Manager, you are expected to do the following:
- Manage large cross-group coordination
- Deeply understand platform level technologies
- Prepare and communicate Hard-core data analysis and summaries
- Influence technical architecture/design decisions, advocate for awesome user experiences, put in place useful processes, rip out useless processes, get in the code when necessary, and always be inventing a better way to do things
About the team
The FireTV team is a big part of creating the innovative devices at Lab126. The FireTV team is responsible for the board bring up, low level software, operating system, core framework feature development, and end-to-end system functions, such as Performance/Power/Stability, that bring the devices to life. The software built by the FireTV team runs on many Amazon devices such as Fire Tablets, Fire Sticks, Fire TV Cubes, Fire TVs, and many more.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
- 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
- 3+ years of software development experience
- 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
- Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
