The RIC team is responsible for the critical services that assemble the product detail pages on the Amazon website by combining data from sellers, vendors or internal systems, in real-time, millions of times a day. These services, which are a core part of the Amazon's catalog, are being re-built from scratch. The team offers a unique blend of hard computer science problems (scalable distributed systems and high performance algorithms) and an opportunity to help the businesses model their vision on the platform. You will work alongside visionaries who have defined some of the foundational systems at Amazon.

Key job responsibilities
The SDE2 is responsible for highly ambiguous and challenging problems at a global scale. You will be responsible for design, development and end to end delivery of software applications. You will influence technical direction, drive operational excellence best practices and maintain quality on team deliverables. You will also have the opportunity to learn from high-performing software engineering teams and mentor junior members.
A day in the life
You take initiative and work along side top-notch engineers and product managers to innovate. You obsess about your customers and by extension the reliability and performance of your team's software. Milliseconds matter at millions of requests per second!
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 4+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 3+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 4+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
