The team seeks to provide seamless experiences for customers with Alexa in the car and associated products to help the car manufacturers to improve their in-vehicle experiences over time.

It's Day 1 for Amazon Smart Vehicles and we are working on building products that enables car manufacturers to integrate different voice forward experiences like Navigation, Car Control, Communications and Entertainment seamlessly. We are looking for a Senior Technical Writer to create the technical documentation that Automakers will use to integrate our SDKs into their platforms. This person will hit the ground running and create the content and educational materials that enable third-party developers to easily integrate with Amazon Smart Vehicle products and solutions. Your expertise will include strong contextual writing, a love for coherent information architecture, and a desire to dive deep and get things done.

As a technical writer for Amazon Smart Vehicles, you’ll need to put yourself in the developer’s shoes and deliver the resources they need to get started quickly and to launch new voice-enabled vehicles and automotive accessories!

The ideal candidate is an independent and curious self-starter with a demonstrated ability to produce high-quality technical content, drive complex documentation projects, collaborate with technologists, quickly grasp new technical concepts with enthusiasm.

Key job responsibilities
- Manage simultaneous documentation projects, including building and running the workflows where you engage with the engineering stakeholders across the organization to raise the bar on and publish their content
- Edit and deliver technically accurate documentation to help developers successfully adopt Amazon SDKs and services
- Own the editorial bar for the entire documentation set, including the documentation architecture, editing and testing
- Continuously gather information from Business Development, Product Management, Developer Marketing, and Tech Support to produce best practices and react to the needs of developers

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, Computer Science, Information Design, or related field or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of content creation and copywriting within a enterprise, Professional Services organization, or similar practice
- 3+ years of experience reading a programming language such as Java, JavaScript, or Python
- 1+ years of technical documentation creation for software products preferably APIs and/or SDKs.
- Working knowledge of documentation tools and repositories to develop templates, manipulate output styles, tag and manage technical content
- Experience working directly with engineers and other technical subject matter experts

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience thriving in a fast-moving global team environment, juggling many tasks and projects
- Demonstrated ability to conceptualize technical/functional content into something creative that developers enjoy consuming
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and focus on quality
- Experience writing in a structured authoring environment
- Proficiency in Photoshop or other graphic design package
- Working understanding of programming in C/C++ and/or Java.
- Working understanding of Android development process
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Obsessive about technical accuracy and strong attention to detail

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $96,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $195,800/year in our highest geographic market.
