Project Kuiper is a initiative within Amazon that aims to revolutionize global connectivity through the development of a state-of-the-art Low Earth Orbit (LEO) interconnected satellite communication constellation. Our mission is to bridge the digital divide by delivering high-speed, low latency, internet services to underserved and unserved communities and remote communities around the world. By leveraging satellite technology, we are working towards a future where everyone has access to reliable and high-quality internet connectivity regardless of their location. The Kuiper Government Solutions (KGS) Engineering organization is a multi-disciplinary technology team established to rapidly address the needs of targeted government and international customers with specific solutions that have the potential to scale. KGS Engineering leads the development and delivery of targeted and scalable solutions for custom space and terrestrial applications. KGS collaborates closely with Project Kuiper to leverage the constellation of advance satellites to provide seamless and efficient communication capabilities to meet the needs of our customers. The KGS Engineering team is seeking highly technical and talented individuals who are passionate about creating unique solutions that result in a positive impact on a global scale. The Lab Engineer will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary team to design, integrate, and test innovative space-based and terrestrial systems and subsystems. The Lab Engineer will work closely with colleagues throughout Kuiper Government Solutions (KGS) inter-disciplinary teams and collaborate with key partners and suppliers in order to ensure our system exceeds customer expectations. The Lab Engineer must be responsive, flexible, innovative, and able to succeed within a collaborative, fast-paced, and dynamic environment. As a member of the KGS Engineering Integrated Systems Solutions organization, the Lab Engineer will be responsible for the quality, reliability, cost, manufacturability, throughput, and security of KGS product deliverables. The Lab Engineer accomplishes this by effectively managing research & development (R&D) engineering labs, identifying process improvements to improve build and test efficiency, and working closely with multiple engineering teams on early hardware & software development efforts setting the stage for low-rate production manufacturing and factory acceptance test processes. The candidate will have the capability to build and assemble production hardware, develop mechanical tooling, integrate and validate electronic test systems, develop manufacturing and test procedures, and modify automation test software for various products including but not limited to opto-electrical subsystems, opto-mechanical, electro-mechanical subsystems, and RF systems. This candidate will also be responsible for the maintenance and operation of environmental test systems including but not limited to thermal vacuum/thermal cycle test chambers, dynamics/vibration test systems, and accelerate life test systems. The successful candidate thrives in a fast paced, start-up like environment and are able to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills and commitment to quality to positively impact team metrics and organization goals. To be successful you need to be highly motivated and detail oriented while showing the highest standards of execution. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience working on large-scale programs with a diverse set of talented individuals, as well as with partner organizations (including government agencies).
